2018 SCO Summit To Impact Transport To And From Qingdao 2018-05-11

The Chinese port city of Qingdao will host the 2018 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit next month.
Security measures will be tightened and there will be a measureable impact on transport from Qingdao from May 20th until mid-June (unless specified otherwise).
That impact can be summarized briefly as follows: 
  • LNG/LPG and crude oil carriers may not be permitted to berth or sail
  • Operations on dangerous goods (DG), liquids and powdered substances will be suspended
  • Inspection of terminals, aircraft, vessels and vehicles (as well as the cargoes carried by those conveyances) will result in potential shipment delays
  • From June 1st to June 20th June Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal Co., Ltd  (QQCT) will cease handling DGs with the exception of substances of hazard classes 8 (Corrosives) and 9 (Miscellaneous DG)
  • Security measures will impact on the flow of traffic in and around Qingdao City as well as their container port and airport
  • It is forecasted that carriers will limit local allocations of cargo space for the months of May and June
