CN Responds to CIFFA's Call for Action on Intermodal Transportation in Canada’s Transportation and Trade Corridors 2018-03-23

On March 21, JJ Ruest, CN’s Interim President and CEO, wrote a letter to CIFFA, and to federal Minister of Transport Marc Garneau and Minister of International Trade François-Philippe Champagne.

The letter was in response to CIFFA’s letter and call for action on intermodal transportation in Canada’s transportation and trade corridors.

CN outlined plans for restoring two crucial KPIs: 3-day average port dwell time in Vancouver and in Prince Rupert, and an average truck carter turn time of 45 minutes at the railway’s inland intermodal terminals. The railway also outlined its plans to increase overall network capacity.

The letter in full can be read here.

CIFFA invites all interested stakeholders to download our letter template in English or in French and to participate in the call on government to act on intermodal transportation problems.

On Thursday evening, CIFFA attended a CN forwarder-industry reception in Toronto at which CN presented its capacity plan. CN is tentatively planning similar meetings in other cities soon.
