Canadian National Rail Service Reliability Quality Declining 2018-02-20

It is common knowledge by now that overall service reliability and performance at the railhead has suffered a serious but hopefully short term decline with Canadian National Railway (CNR or CN for short).
CN is only one of the two options for rail intermodal between either Canadian Coast; CSX and other carriers service intermodal that comes up to Canada from south of the border.
Service on CN has deteriorated to the point that the rail companies clients are switching their cargoes to rival Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR or CP).
In a freight forwarding transaction for an intermodal movement rail arrangements are made between the steamship lines and the rail companies; they gauge the performance of their rail carriers and change the mix of carriers serving Canadian ports from time to time. Now is such a time, so whereas an importer might have expected to see indication that one of their containers are moving inland with CN will now see CP on occasion as the nominated carrier for the meantime.
