New Antidumping Petition on PET Resin Imported into the USA

: US Customs

Five Countries Targeted by U.S. Antidumping Petition on Polyethylene Terephthalate Resin 2017-09-27

On September 26, 2017, four major U.S. plastics producers filed petitions concurrently with the U.S. Department of Commerce (“DOC”) and the U.S. International Trade Commission ("USITC") – alleging that imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin from Brazil, Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan, and Taiwan are being sold at less than fair value in the USA and causing material injury to the domestic industry.

The petitions allege that producers in each of the five countries are dumping PET resin in the U.S. market at sizeable margins:

  • Brazil: 18.76-114.84 percent
  • Indonesia: 8.49-95.06 percent
  • Korea: 58.73-103.48 percent
  • Pakistan: 27.69-59.92 percent
  • Taiwan: 18.47-45.97 percent
