Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Goes Into Effect August 1 2017 2017-07-28

Following signing of the Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) on July 11, 2016 and its ratification by the Ukrainian Parliament in March 2017, it has now been ratified by the Senate of Canada, and will enter into force on August 1, 2017.
Approximately 98% of Ukrainian products imported to Canada and 80% of Canadian exports to Ukraine will not be subject to customs duties. Some duties will be eliminated immediately when the agreement comes into force, while other tariffs will be phased out over a 3 to 7 year period. Please refer to Annex 2-B Tariff Elimination.
A certificate of origin is not necessarily required to prove the origin of the goods; instead, a declaration on origin can be submitted per the prescribed format provided in the CUFTA. Such origin declarations should be stated on the commercial invoice or other commercial document, and should allow for proper identification of the goods.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has recently published two Customs Notices related to the implementation of CUFTA:
