The U.S. Federal Communications Commission Updates Rules Related to the Authorization of Radio Frequency Devices 2017-07-28

On July 13, 2017 the FCC published a press release announcing their intent to discontinue use of the FCC Form 740 for Radio Frequency devices, which was previously required when filing customs entries.
Form 740 has been waived since July 2016 to help facilitate the transition to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) electronic filings.  According to the press release, “…CBP’s revised database and the increasing availability of product information on the Internet and through other means have reduced the practical need for the form.”
Additionally, FCC marking requirements are being updated to allow the electronic display marking in lieu of etching or permanent labels on the devices exterior. This update is in line with the Enhance Labeling, Accessing, and Branding of Electronic Licenses Act of 2014 (E-LABEL Act).
