Dalian Port Closed After Oil Pipeline Blast 2010-07-19

The Port of Dalian, China is at a standstill after a weekend pipeline explosion and fire spilled an estimated 1500 tons of crude into the sea. Chinese authorities have mobilized one thousand local fishing vessels and dozens of oil skimming ships to aid in cleaning up the oil spill that occurred last Friday night.

Authorities have since limited ship traffic to
Dalian port and are estimating that it will take at least 10 days before normal operations resume. Delays are expected on all cargo originating from or connecting through the Port of Dalian.
