CN Labour Negotiations Update
CN Labour Negotiations Update 2017-03-20
CN has provided an update on the status of its current labour negotiations with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council No. 11 (IBEW). The company is continuing to pursue a negotiated settlement with the IBEW, which represents approximately 700 CN signals and communications employees in Canada.
The IBEW issued a 72-hour strike notice on Friday night, but the parties remained in negotiations. As of Saturday evening, CN said that it believed a fair agreement could be reached before the strike deadline of 12:01 am Tuesday, March 21.
CN has made contingency plans to continue rail operations in the event of a strike and will maintain service to its customers.
CN goes on to say that their Management will step-in to attempt to bridge the gap in case of any labour stoppage.
Milgram will inform our clients in case of an eventual service disruption with the railroad.
